Chiéko Yokoyama-Tancke, geboren in Tokyo, studierte an der Musashino Academia Musicae bei Prof. Jan Horák, Prof. Vlado Perlemuter (Schüler von Ravel), Prof. Kazuko Yasukawa.
Im Jahre 1977 war sie Solistin auf der Deutschlandtournee des Musashino-Hochschulorchesters und trat beim 29. Beethovenfest in Bonn auf.
Nach dem Studienabschluss hatte sie zahlreiche Konzerte und Rundfunkaufnahmen beim staatlichen Radio NHK.
Im Jahre 1980 setzte sie ihr Studium an der Hochschule der Künste Berlin bei Prof. Klaus Hellwig fort.
Im gleichen Jahr wurde sie Finalistin beim Internationalen Wettbewerb "Rina Sala Gallo" in Monza und 1981 Preisträgerin beim Wettbewerb "Ettore Pozzoli" in Seregno, Italien.
1983 legte sie ihre Abschlussprüfung an der HdK mit dem Prädikat "ausgezeichnet" ab.
Neben ihrer Lehrtätigkeit an hat sie regelmäßig Auftritte als Solistin und Kammermusikpianistin als Partnerin von Mitgliedern der Berliner Philharmoniker, des DSO und dem Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin, sowie als Liedbegleiterin , u.a. in der Konzertreihe im Schloss Glienicke in Berlin.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Chieko Yokoyama-Tancke started to play piano at the age of four. She studied piano under Professors Jan Horak and Vlado Perlemuter (visiting professor), and others at Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo. She also learned piano, especially French piano music, under Professor Kazuko Yasukawa (recipient of Legion d'honneur). In 1977, Musashino Academia Musicae Orchestra had a concert tour in Germany. She was selected as a piano soloist and performed in the 29th Beethoven Festival in Bonn.
In 1980, Chieko moved to Germany and studied under Professor Klaus Hellwig at Hochschule der Kunste Berlin (the Berlin University of the Arts), where she graduated with "top honors" in 1983. In 1981, she won prizes in prestigious international piano competitions: "Rina Sala Gallo" in Monza and "the International Ettore Pozzoli Piano Competition" in Seregno, Italy.

While teaching, she continues to perform as a solo pianist and chamber musician in Berlin and other cities in Europe. She also holds concerts regularly with the members of Berlin Philharmonic, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Berlin Konzerthausorchester.
In 2008, Chieko performed with Wenzel Fuchs, Principal Clarinetist of Berlin Philharmonic, at the Port de Sóller Classical Music Festival in Majorca, Spain and also in Berlin, which received very good reviews. In recent years, she has regularly performed at the Schloss Glienicke Concert Series in Berlin. Her repertoire ranges widely from Baroque to modern music.
