The photo was taken during the performance at The Festival of String of the Future in Ottawa in 2001. This was the second performance of the "Rush", composed by Melissa Hui for pipa and string quartet, premiered by Liu Fang at the Vancouver Chamber Music Festival in 1999 with four extraordinary young virtuosos Ruggero Allifranchini (violin) Kai Gleusteen (violin) Nokuthula Ngwenyama (viola) and Yegor Dyachkov (cello). Both concerts were recorded by CBC radio.
